Wolverine League 2026 Intro

The Wolverine League is a face-to-face boardgame league using the rules of Dynasty League Baseball from Design Depot. The WL has four team owners for the 2026 season (which will use the DLB player cards from the 2025 season). If you're interested in joining the league in the future, contact Garry Kaluzny at . Each team will play a 40 game schedule, which means players must play six or seven games a month to keep up with the schedule. Games take about 60 to 90 minutes each to account for setting up, playing, putting away, and filling out game reports. Official league stats will be posted on this web site.

What is Dynasty League Baseball? DLB is a statistical-replay type of game. Although DLB is also available as as an online game, many prefer the boardgame version. In the boardgame version, real major league baseball players are represented by cards with a lot of numbers on them. Players roll three 10-sided dice to get a number from 000 to 999 that tells you what a particular batter did vs. a particular pitcher. Better players should produce better statistics. DLB is a refinement of Pursue the Pennant (and was actually designed by the same person, Mike Cieslinski). Other similar games are APBA, Statis-Pro, and Strat-O-Matic, although Dynasty League is the best of them all!

Batters and pitchers have separate ratings vs. lefty/righty opposition. Batters are rated for bunting, hit & run, stealing, baserunning speed, etc. Some batters have a "clutch" rating. Pitchers have varying abilities to hold runners and may be more or less inclined to balk or throw a wild pitch. Some pitchers are "tough" in a jam. Fielders have different arm strengths, and have separate range and error ratings. Fielders are rated at different positions that they actually played. Catchers are rated on their ability to "call" a game. Plus, some players have propensities for making "bonehead" plays! Dynasty League Baseball also rates players for their "clubhouse" intangibles. Some players can destroy clubhouse morale and that can affect how your team performs on the field! Did I mention that umpires' strike zones can affect play?

This league is not for money. It is for the enjoyment of face-to-face competition! Each owner in the league should purchase the Dynasty League 40th Anniversary Board Game (Item #bsebb, $49.95) and their own set of 2025 season player cards (Item #bsec25, $79.95) from Design Depot (add $24.95 for shipping and handling to all orders). Ownership of the 2026 Official Rules of Major League Baseball is recommended.
